Madhouse Trials the Ultra 6039 Printer to Eliminate Data Entry Error

Paxar EMEA, part of Paxar Corporation, the world's leading provider of fully integrated and innovative labelling, merchandising and identification solutions for retailers and apparel manufacturers is pleased to announce Madhouse, a leading independent retailer of jeans and fashion clothing, is now trialling the Monarch Pathfinder Ultra Platinum 6039 (“Ultra 6039”) to eliminate the possibility of human error in markdown labelling. Today’s news follows Madhouse’s successful adoption of the Monarch Pathfinder Ultra Silver 6032 (“Ultra 6032”) in December 2005.

The Ultra 6039 has been uniquely designed to address today's supply chain challenges. Common issues include aging and incompatible IT architecture as well as the need to eliminate errors while gaining visibility to real-time data. This unique one-piece solution provides multiple benefits including:

  • Increased productivity by reducing labelling cycle times;
  • Increased worker productivity;
  • Real-time visibility into mission-critical needs such as information sharing;
  • Improved data accuracy;
  • Reducing errors within each application; and
  • Financial efficiency.

Madhouse had noted that due the amount of stock that is marked-down on a weekly basis, the chance of human error is increased. Madhouse was interested in a solution to eliminate the possibility of a user entering an incorrect price. The Ultra 6039 was the logical progression from the Ultra 6032, allowing files to be stored in the unit and be updated with daily price lists. Labels are then printed directly from these price lists eliminating the chance of data entry error completely.

Paxar has been working with Madhouse for over 15 years, supplying the necessary hardware, cards, tickets and barcodes for all its labelling needs. After a successful trial in 12 stores during pre-Christmas trading in 2005, Madhouse adopted Paxar’s Ultra 6032 - a handheld printer combining outstanding small label printing value with unique productivity enhancing print and apply capabilities. Previously, Madhouse had been manually marking down products. This method was inefficient and often illegible. The Ultra 6032 received positive feedback from staff for its ease of use and the uniform labels gave the store a more professional image overall.

Mick Tesseras, Systems Manager of Madhouse said today: “The trials of the 6032 have demonstrated the ease of use for staff and the high quality of the labels produced as well as the positive impact on overall store image. The 6039 is a natural progression providing greater automation of the reduction process and eliminating human error through the bar code reader.”

Max Tatford, Marketing Manager at Paxar commented: “We have a well established relationship with Madhouse and know the business thoroughly - having supplied all its labelling needs for the past 15 years. As the business expands we are able to offer bespoke solutions to meet its changing needs. We’re delighted Madhouse is trialling the 6039 which will see staff spending less time in the back room allowing more time to focus on front of house sales.”
