Paxar Corp. has licensed Avicon's epcTranslator
technology to convert between legacy codes
and electronic product codes (EPC)
Paxar's Monarch RFID printing solutions,
combined with Avicon's epcTranslator, enables
the quick conversion of legacy codes, such
as Global Trade Identification Numbers (GTIN),
Serialized Shipping Container Codes (SSCC),
or Department of Defense Activity Address
Codes (DODACC), to EPCglobal standard electronic
product codes (EPC), and back. This efficient
conversion capability bridges a significant
technology gap, and easily transforms conventional
supply chains into the world of RFID.
"Avicon's epcTranslator technology and
leadership within EPCGlobal's standardization
efforts for Tag Data Translation, provides
Paxar's customers with an extremely simple
and efficient way to convert data from the
world of bar code tracking to RFID,"
said John Powell, Paxar's vice president,
services and systems integration. "Paxar's
leading RFID print solutions and systems integration
services, coupled with the powerful technology
provided by Avicon, allow our customers to
create and print accurate Electronic Product
Codes in the most productive manner possible."
"Paxar's Monarch product line is a leading
edge platform for RFID implementations",
said Marc Linster, CEO of Avicon. "Combining
their hardware with Avicon's XML markup-driven
translator technology, provides Paxar's customers
with the capability for fast implementations
using open standards."
