SpecStar In-Plant – Data Management Software

Paxar’s SpecStar In-Plant software is an online data management system which helps brands and retailers all over the world to manage and implement label data and layouts accurately on a worldwide basis. It was developed specifically for the apparel industry and can be modified to meet the unique requirements and specifications of any brand or retailer.

With Paxar’s SpecStar system label data is taken from a brand or retailer, manipulated by Paxar according to preset rules and then delivered to an internet folder on the SpecStar website. This data is then ready for manufacturing locations around the world, with Paxar in-plant label printers, to log on to the website and automatically receive the data files and label format layouts specifically designated for them. These are downloaded to the local PCs and in combination with Paxar’s PCMate printer software drive the printers.

SpecStar can handle data in any format from any source. Paxar takes this data and manipulates it on your behalf, according to your rules for fonts, logos and layout, thus minimising use of your IT resources. This means that batch data goes directly from head office to the production sites without any local operator intervention. Each location receives a unique user name and password which means data and layouts can be sent to a single, specific location or to all printing locations. Printer operators simply connect to the SpecStar website, log in, collect their data and then open Paxar’s PCMate software and begin printing.

If required SpecStar can also feed information back to the brand or retailer on the number of labels printed at each location for each SKU. Garments produced can be fully traced throughout the supply chain from information held in a secure database. Brand protection can be ensured through the use of unique coding and sequential numbering.

Paxar’s SpecStar system is in use in over 2000 locations in 78 countries around the world by manufacturers producing for many of the world’s major brands and retailers.
