AAFA Names Paxar Winner of 2006 Excellence in Social Responsibility Award for Community Outreach

The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) named Paxar winner of its 2006 Excellence in Social Responsibility Award in the community outreach category. The award is given in recognition of outstanding corporate policies and actions that benefit employees, business and/or the community. There are six categories.

AAFA President and CEO Kevin M. Burke presented the awards at the AAFA Annual Meeting which took place on February 24 in Aventura, Florida. Referring to the six companies selected, Mr. Burke said, "These companies are outstanding examples of the many steps companies across our industry take every day to assist their workers and local communities around the world."

Paxar was selected for its role in relief activities in Sri Lanka following the 2004 tsunami that struck Southeast Asia and the Asian subcontinent. Immediately following the tsunami, the Paxar Disaster Relief Fund was formed with contributions from the corporation, company business units and employees. This fund financed the building of 21 houses in Sri Lanka's Hambantota district.
